Careers Week 2023 – Building your future 27-31 March on site / hybrid ALUMNI WELCOME

This year our Careers Week is bigger, better and on site (or hybrid if that works for you!). The Careers Team and four St George's students have joined forces to research, canvas opinion and devise the themes for Careers Week 2023. 'Building your future' focuses on taking the initiative to gather knowledge, experience and motivation (and much more) through taking opportunities and seeking experiences, no matter what programme of study you are on.

The sessions aim to inspire, open valuable insights and provide practical advice on how you can make the best of your time at university and beyond.

We have a range of speakers including alumni and experts to re-energise your career planning and ensure you secure a bright future after St George's. Come and join us.

We are offering entry into our free prize draw to win £50 of Amazon vouchers to all those that Register in advance.

Exploring global opportunities for study and work - how to start, where to look and what to consider, this session is both practical, offering free access to tools to further your research, and inspiring with insights and wisdom from experts, alumni and students who have ventured outside the UK to become global graduates. *Transitioning successfully from uni to work in healthcare -* this session covers general themes of starting out in work after uni and is open to all students including Bioscience students and graduates. In this panel and networking event, we hear from a range of clinicians and allied health professionals on their tips for working life. We address the reality of starting out after graduating and equip students to see beyond daily challenges to get the most out of their early training / working years. *Getting Research Experience -* students and researchers will talk about their involvement at the cutting-edge of science and research at St.George’s. Learn the necessary skills for finding work experience and discover how you can develop a research interest to become the next leading scientist in your chosen field. *Excelling in placements -* placements are an essential feature of most programmes at St George's. We will hear from recent Bioscience year in industry students, MBBS, allied health graduates, and placements experts, to give the long view on the value of placements, practical tips on coping and excelling as a trainee and hear inspirational first hand accounts of how placements have changed lives. Take away St George's Placement Survival Guide for all attendees. This session is relevant to all programmes. Linkedin Profile Drop-In - LinkedIn profiles are the window on your professional profile and achievements for networking, knowledge sharing with like-minded professionals, celebrating professional achievements and for jobs. Drop-in to get feedback on your existing profile, tips for improvement or just how to get started. LinkedIn is a tool to expand your networks professionally across all industries including those working in healthcare.	30 March 2-4pm Careers Room / in person
