Thus far we have looked at using the calendar to add events at module level. These type of events are the ones that all students enrolled within the module should attend or have access to. However, there are other events such as tutorials or placements where only nominated students are required to attend the event. This need can best be met by creating Groups and assigning students to each group who all share the same timetable. A separate group calendar can then be created for these students.

Creating Groups

N.B. The students might be placed in many groups on their canvas modules, so group names like 'Tutorial 1' could be confusing. Perhaps consider add the module name to the group name to make it easier for students to navigate the calendar, e.g. Anat & Phys Tutorial Group 1.

Once you have created your Groups you are ready to work with the Group Calendar which will be described on the next page.
