This tutorial is designed to help you use the Canvas calendar to create a schedule for your students enrolled in a Canvas module. The first part of the tutorial will cover the basics of working with the module calendar.

The second part of the tutorial will cover the use of Groups within Canvas and how to create Group Calendars. You would need this approach for instances where within the module there are some whole class events (e.g. a lecture) as well as events that pertain to a specific group (e.g. tutorials, placements etc).

Viewing the Calendar

Calendar Icon To open the Canvas Calendar click the Calendar button in the main navigation button on the left hand side of this page.
You will be presented with the Calendar in Month view if this is your first time accessing the calendar.

Key:

View the calendar in Week, Month, or Agenda view. Click the + button to create a new event, or click within a date square.

A calendar feed for exporting the Calendar to Outlook or another email client.

* By default, the first 10 module and group calendars (that exist) will be selected and appear in the calendar view. To hide or activate a calendar, click the box next to the name of the calendar. Calendars that are not active within the calendar view are displayed faded out.
