Module: Principles and Practice of Radiography | Module Lead: Michael Dean

LTS were approached during the academic year to run an ABC Learning Design Workshop with the module team. During this workshop, the module team worked hard to rethink how students could engage with the key concepts of the module and provide aligned learning opportunities throughout their teaching, using the technology we have available. These have ranged from end of topic quizzes, discussion activities in the form of a "Tweet" in response to their clinical experience, reading through new research and writing blog posts. The most recent being an activity for students to work on a presentation from different pathologies from which there will be a "Digestive Pathology Review", where slides from each group's presentations will be selected and the whole cohort will have the opportunity to present one slide per group, hear from their peers and receive feedback on their work. 55 out of 59 students have engaged in this latest activity, all during lock-down!

“Ensuring that Level 4 Diagnostic Radiography students have an engaging learning environment has been an important objective of mine since our course re-validation last year. By working closely with the LTS team, we created a structure in which activities are embedded into module delivery and contribute directly into classroom discussions. Using the analytics available from Canvas and particularly the Units feature, we have been able to recognise improved participation across all components- and students have been provided with key feedback during Quiz completions and during Discussion Boards. It has also allowed us to identify students who require further support needs during this difficult time.
