The resource is for anyone who gives students or trainees feedback on written work such as assignments, essays or reports.
It aims to provide a resource that you can use to reflect on the ways you give feedback on written work; by considering principles of good practice, reflecting on how you apply or could apply them and providing some examples of ways of giving feedback for you to consider.

How to use Giving Feedback on Written Work

The resource begins with an introduction to the context of the debate on feedback to students.
It then presents some conditions for effective feedback and asks you to use them to review the way you provide written feedback.
Some examples of feedback are provided for you to consider. You should also have in mind some examples of feedback on written work that you have given to students, trainees or colleagues.
Finally, it considers some ways that students can be encouraged to engage with and use feedback.

The resource is designed to take approximately 45 minutes to complete. It is designed to be completed on screen, but you can print and write if you prefer.

You will be able to save your responses to the prompts and questions. When you have finished the resource you can complete a short reflection to form the basis of a certificate that you can save and keep to discuss at your personal review or as part of a CPD portfolio.
