Generative AI in Higher Education MOOC

The programme starts with self-directed learning via the Generative AI in Higher Education MOOC on FutureLearn. Completing this MOOC is a pre-requisite in attending the rest of the workshops, so please enrol yourself onto the MOOC and complete both weeks in the first instance.

Instructions for accessing Generative AI in Higher Education MOOC on FutureLearn

This video shows you how to enrol in FutureLearn using your St George's credentials, join the FutureLearn Campus programme (to get free access to selected courses) and then to access and enrol on the Generative AI in Higher Education MOOC. Due to St George's partnership with FutureLearn we are able to access this course for free and to retain access indefinitely (normally free access is only for 2 weeks) when we enrol in this way. The video and instructions below provide guidance on how to enrol and get free access to the materials.

Register for FutureLearn using your St George's details

1. Visit the page www.futurelearn.com/campus/sgul.
2. Select the button 'Start learning now' to confirm your eligibility. There are two similar buttons on the page, so you may need to select this button twice.
3. Follow the on-screen prompts. You may be asked to enter your login details.
4. When you see a screen that says 'Congratulations', and confirms that you now have free access to any course included in FutureLearn Campus, you have successfully joined FutureLearn Campus.
Enrol on the 'Generative AI in Higher Education' MOOC

1. While signed into FutureLearn, using the search box in the top right of the page search on “Generative AI in Higher Education”. This will bring up the course details for the MOOC, which was created by King's College London. Alternatively use this link to go directly to the course.
2. To join the course, either scroll down the page or use the box on the right hand side and click on the 'Join Course' button.
3. You will see 3 options for joining the course, which should look like the image below. You should select the option on the left hand side to 'Join with FutureLearn Campus' and select the button 'Join and get free upgrade'.
4. You will then be taken to a new screen. Select the “Save and go to course” button and you will be taken through to the course content.

Having completed these steps you should now have extended access to the course that you'll keep forever, which is enabled through St George's partnership with FutureLearn.
